How secure is your garden?

When it comes to thinking about home security, it is not only the inside of your property that you need to protect, but you should also consider the security of your garden too.
The garden is your home’s first line of defence against burglary and theft. Having a good level of security around your perimeter can be enough to put off burglars and protect your home. Even having a high fence, CCTV system and locks on your gate may mean that you are not the victim in the next burglary. Criminals will also often access homes and gardens through public access routes such as an alley. If you have a private alleyway down the side of your house, talk to your neighbour about fitting a high, strong lockable gate.
When installing a fence try and ensure it is 1.8 meters and that it is as close to the ground as possible this will stop people being able to crawl underneath it. When installing your fence be sure that the panels are secured so that they cannot be easily lifted up as this is a common what for criminals to access your garden.
Although there is no way to ensure that you are not a victim to this sort of crime, these measures should help to prevent it.
